A Study On Band Hudagu’s Performance In The Sacrificial Ceremony Of Fu Hsi In Tianshui City Gansu Province

Fu Hsi is the father of Chinese culture who has created a splendid civilization and made significant contributions to the progress of Chinese culture. According to legend, Tianshui City in Gansu Province is the birthplace of Fu Hsi. In memory of this great ancestor, the sons and daughters of the Chinese nation have developed a custom of conducting sacrificial ceremonies since Spring and Autumn period. After 2,000 years, they have been improved systematically and regularly. Currently, there are two ceremonial forms, that is, public memorial ceremony and folk sacrificial rites.Fu Hsi culture, full of the spirit of creation, dedication and cooperation, is an important source of Chinese culture and the origin of Chinese civilization, and it has a very profound and far-reaching impact on the heritage of Chinese civilization. It is worth mentioning that the sacrificial ceremony of Fu His in Tianshui City is the only folk ceremony that first appeared in the national intangible cultural heritage. And Huda Drum Band’s performance has become an important part of the whole ritual ceremony. Founded in 1960s, Huda Drum Band is developed from the simple playing band which accompanies for the shadow plays in 1962. Subsequently, as various Qupai styles been summarized, there becomes a structured and unified performance mode as we know today. Based on the performance of Huda Drum Band, this writer makes analysis and research on Fu Hsi culture from the perspective of history, folk, music and humanity. It is expected that this report will provide reference for the inheritance and development of Fu Hsi culture.
