Outer Mongolia is a nation on horseback. In its long history, horses are closely related to the rise and fall of Outer Mongolia. Outer Mongolian horse culture, as an essential part of the growth and development of the nation, is written into the annals of history.Records of horses can be found in the most ancient legends of Outer Mongolia. The legends are recorded in the rock paintings of the ancient times in which Outer Mongolian ancestors rode their horses to explore the beautiful Mongolian Plateau. A deep emotion grows up between the Outer Mongolian people and their horses in long journeys of nomadic migration. Outer Mongolian people pay more attention to the horse culture than people from other nations. It is a highlight of Outer Mongolian culture that horse culture is closely related to its native music culture. Horse-related folk songs vividly reflect society and customs in the whole culture system of Outer Mongolia.This thesis probes into the cultural characteristics and music terms of horse-related folk songs to clarity the history, the regional classification and the singing forms of "Outer Mongolian horse culture in folk songs and folk songs in Outer Mongolian horse culture". The conclusion of the thesis is as follows:horses play an import role in Outer Mongolian life and Outer Mongolian people combine music with poetry to praise the indelible contributions horses made in the history of Outer Mongolia.
