Movie stars,as a kind of commercial symbol, have a great influence. This kind of influence inspired the audience’s passion, filmmakers use this influence to construct a system, star sustem. Star system makes audience’s passion turn into financial support to film industry. Stars, as a kind of goods, have very high investment value, their popularity and pulling power make them to be the box office dynamite. The 20 s to 50 s of the 20 th century is the so-called “Big Studio Times”, it’s also the golden age of Hollywood, star system became mature in this period. Star syetem constructed by many factors, these factors interact each other, we can separate them to three parts for the functional reason, Making System,Controlling System,Revaluing System. Thanks to star system, Hollywood laid a leading position in film industry.Hollywood’s star system’s success aroused the similar thinking of Chinese film industry. For some historical reason, Chinese film industry has our own particularity on star system’s progress. Although the depth and breadth are far from enough, star system approached maturity in the Minguo period. But the development of film industry ended after the Minguo period. and start over after 1990 s. Domestically produced movies divided into mainland movie, Hong Kong movie, Taiwan movie for Geographical and political reasons. At the end of Minguo period, film industry’s centre turn to Hong Kong, Hong Kong film industry’s development took the same way of Hollywood, so did star system. Taiwan film industry has been bad, local stars offend came to mainland or Hong kong to seek more chance, star system was not very well. Now, three region come to a big one, the commercialization of film industry isn’t very well. In order to realize the commercialization of film industry, we need to use the influence of movie star to gain more exposure, there’s more work to be done.Chinese film industry’s development started late, and now still fall behind compared with American.. Hollywood’s star system does not apply to Chinese film, we need more understanding and analysis on the demand of Chinese film development. Nowadays, the making system we used mechanically copied from other countries, this made audience feel boring. We need more effective and innovate ways to make stars. Also, agent is still a very new job to us, there is no standard to be an agent, this is not okay to star system’s development. We need to built a mature agent system. For stars’ revaluing, we can learn more from successful experience of foreign film commany, to achieve maximum business value.Star system is clear in order considering nowadays situation. Creating a mature complete star system is a big supporting to our film industry. Based on Hollywood’s star system, I analyzed the cause and influence of star system, how it works, and compared with Chinese film development on each period, expressed my opinions on current situation, then suggested relevant measures to the development of star system’s chinization.
