An Analysis On The Film Star Agent System Of Mainland China

Film star agency is still under developed in view of professionalization in current Mainland China. So far, the literature with the topic on film star agent s development is very limited, including its definition, its background, its function and its determinents of that "circle". Moreover, the topics on business model, qualification and weakness of film star agents are also issues need to be studied further. Therefore, this paper make a comprehensive description and analysis on those topics, in order to give a theoretical suggestion on the establishment of China's film star agency system. This result of the paper will do help to the healthy development of Chinese film market and regularization of film star agency.This paper makes an analysis on problems born from current film star agents group in current Mainland China. The first problem is relative low qualification of film star agents and very incompleted professional training programs in this area. The second problem is the absence of supervision framework of this group at the domestic level. This paper concluded that the main reason of those problems is "pattern of difference sequence" in the process of selecting film star agents. This pattern is widely adopted in practice but is unbeneficial to the further development of Chinese film industry, either for the upgrading of film stars.Based on the problems above mentioned on film star agents, the suggestion on policy- making concerning this "circle" is as follows. First, the complete training program should be established urgently, meanwhile this kind of program should be carried out according to the "practical ground" of current China. Second, the concerning governmental departments and organizations are assumed to set up the major of film star agency at film studies colleges, aiming at pushing the development of the talents of highly qualified film star agents. Third, the policy framework of supervision in this "circle" shall be built, and its main function include three aspects as follows: the first is establishing self restrictive organization of this industry; the second is stipulating laws and regulations on agents procedure and the third is the national unification on agents professional qualification, Those policies and initiatives will push the films star agents system in healthy development pace and upgrading the whole file industry in long run.
