Reaserch On Li Xian’s Annotation Of Hou Han Shu Regarding The Book Of Songs

Hou Han Shu consists of 120 volumes:10 volumes of chronicles and 80 volumes of biographies which are written by Fan Ye of the Southern Song Dynasty and annotated by Li Xian of the Tang Dynasty; 30 volumes of annals which are written by Si Mabiao of the Jin Dynasty and annotated by Liu Zhao of the Liang Dynasty. Li Xian’s annotating Hou Han Shu is after he became the crown prince,including factors of both politics and science,which guaranteeing Li’s annotation’s high quality. Li’s annotating is good at explanations, no less than Yan Shigu’s annotations on Han Shu. According to statistics,we now have 7975 Li Xian’s annotations, including 473 on The Book of Songs.Considering so many materials, Li Xian’s annotations is of literature value. This paper compares The Book of Songs of Song Dynasty’s good edition to Li Xian’s annotations concerning The Book of Songs and coordinate the latter completely. This thesis has four parts:the first chapter is a brief introduction of the research significance and value of Li Xian’s annotations concerning The Book of Songs; the second chapter with a table of different words attached is a research on different characters inside The Book of Songs compiled by Mao(《毛诗》),specificly consists of six parts such as the borrowed words,the ancient and modem words, the variants and so on; the third chapter points out the value of Li Xian’s annotations from the aspects of collecting the lost and rectifying the mistakes, in which Han Shi(《韩诗》), Han Shi Zhang Ju(《韩诗章句》),Lu Shi(《鲁诗》), Mao Shi Cao Mu Niao Shou Chong Yu Shu (《毛诗草木鸟兽虫鱼疏》), upside-down orders and errors are included. The fourth chapter analyse and catalogy the mistakes of Li Xian’s annotations in 6 aspects- missing, upside-down orders, errors, hybrids and etc.
