Compiling Of The Collation And Annotation Of Baopuzi

BaoPuZi is a masterpiece of Ge Hong in Jin Dynasty. Generally, the Inner Chapters talks about the immortals, ghosts, metamorphosis and pursuit of eternal life; while the Outer Chapters is centered on politics, religion and social ethics. However, due to various reasons, many chapters had been severely scattered or lost. Mr. Yang Mingzhao complied the book The Collation and Annotation of BaoPuzi based on the work of previous scholars, greatly facilitating the research but still leaving many details undiscussed.The main content of this thesis includes:research on provenance unknown allusions; revise the omission, word error, redundant words, and text disorder; explain on definition of unknown or uncertain words; supply to the previous research findings. The purpose of this thesis is to get closer to the original writings of Ge Hong and offer a better understanding of its context and ideas. At the same time, it provides valuable and reliable resources for further research on politics, history, literature, religion and other aspects of Jin Dynasty.
