E-C Translation Of Marine Archaeology-Related Texts From The Perspective Of Pragmatic Adaptation Theory

Marine archaeology has long been absent in China’s archaeological research history, off the people’s radar screen. With the evolving of archaeology concepts, researchers begin to devote themselves to public archaeology. Sure enough, as an essential part of archaeology, marine archaeology has finally got an opportunity for further research. This translation project selects a set of academic theses on the subject of marine archaeology as the original text, in an attempt to introduce overseas well-developed marine archaeological theory and advanced technology of underwater archaeology, and to draw on other countries’experience to contribute to the cause of China’s marine archaeology.The Pragmatic Adaptation Theory, proposed by distinguished Belgium linguist Verschueren. presents a new perspective for translation studies and establishes a unified and coherent model for translation practice. In the light of Pragmatic Adaptation Theory, this report intends to explore its application and significance in the marine archaeology E-C translation practice from the perspective of linguistic context and communicative context, opening up a new approach to translating materials regarding marine archaeology.
