For excellent two-dimensional animation, it is important on how to deal with the relationship on time and space and practice the narration of shot. Actually, the so-called “the relationship between the time and space of the short”, it is the content depressed by Montage. That is the possible combination of all the picture and sound elements. This project discussed the relation between the time and space of shot through the creation on two-dimensional animation experienced short film 《rent room》. It was based on the application of animation language and modern digital technology reasonably. The shot shift in the creation of two-dimensional animation is somewhat like that in the live-action film with its special feature. The live-action film is the results of multi-cooperation, which emphasizes on the actors and cameras. While the animation on not only the action but also the drawing especially in the arctic animation or experimental short films. Therefore, the creators frame the work alone, in setting of fine arts style, composition and plots from the point of animation. In which, all the actors and cameras are virtually composed with montage technology.《rent room》narrated the memory of neighbors’ youth under “unified space, different time” connected by a lost heart-shape necklace. It involved the change of time and space of the current and past. How to deal with the change of shot so that the relation between the time and space could be narrated clearly was the core difficult of this work. The research method and practice discussed the function of montage shot changing by exhibiting the story occurred in the rent room through the animation thinking mode. It is with certain research value for further discussion on this field. The exploration and research on the shot language applied in the two-dimensional animation, shot change between the time and space would enrich the language of animation.
