Translation practice is important for improving practice competence of MTI students, while translation process is a significant part of strengthening such competence. Empirical studies on translation process mainly focus on TAPs and ternary data analysis combining TAPs and Translog, instead of translation process of MTI students. Research on translation process and its basic problems is favorable for both developing theory studies and guiding translation practice.The research methods in this study include mainly questionnaires and interviews, which are usually applied in social science studies, with which information could be better selected and evaluated. Based on a series of work including questionnaire design, data collection, interview and analysis of results,this report shows that MTI students do have some problems in their natural process of completing a translation task individually and collaboratively. Suggestions are put forward aiming at solving the mentioned problems.The results indicate that MTI students are still weak in the following aspects: lack of attention to details, too much reliance on the Internet and focusing on a single kind of translating tool, confusion on collaborative translating work and lack of professional skills and consciousness. Thus MTI students should learn to improve their translation process vertically and horizontally concerning the completion and interaction of the natural process of translation, to use various translating tools and identify the reliability and value of Internet recourses, to rule themselves by professional standard and to pursue specialty of translation.
