Over recent years,more and more translation project teams led by translation students are set up to undertake large translation projects.Project management is critical to the successful delivery of translation projects.This article has the "UN Chronicle" translation projects of the Department of Public Information(DPI)of the United Nations conducted by the translation team of the Graduate Institute of Interpretation and Translation(GIIT)at the Shanghai International Studies University(SISU)and the technical translation project of the H Company's Translation Department as its main subjects,and aims to explore the similarities and differences between the translation project teams lead by translation students and the company in terms of project management,the advantages and disadvantages of the two teams and try to improve the project management of the translation projects of the DPI of the United Nations conducted by the translation team of GIIT at SISU by providing solutions such as “clarifying the roles and responsibilities of the project managers”,“having a new manager for the language asset” and “establishing brand-new evaluation and feedback mechanism” to solve the problems such as “overlap between the role of project managers” and “lack of evaluation and feedback mechanism”. |
