Composed in the forty-first 41 st year of Meiji Time(1908.7~8), Ten Nights of Dream is a piece of work at the very beginning of Natsume Soseki’s career in Asahi Shimbun, during which his composition idea was in a transitional period. And the novel makes a fantastic description of the dreams. Consequently, there has been great divergence among the study of Ten Nights of Dream. As Zu Yuichi says in his preface to the work, “due to the suggestibility of the dreams, most of the study are conjectural, and a great many commentators would mingle their own ideas.” Therefore, this thesis puts emphasis on the embodiment of Natsume Soseki ’s literature view of “F+f” in Ten Nights of Dream. analyzing the embodiment of “F” and “f”, the structure of “F+f” in Ten Nights of Dream, as well as the “F+f” association between Ten Nights of Dream and works before and after it. In this way, the thesis aims at revealing the implication of the work.Taking Natsume Soseki’s literature view of “F+f”as the main study object, this thesis combines the research methods of mark theory and consciousness theory to dissect Ten Nights of Dream, basing on the textual analysis of the work. The “F” of Ten Nights of Dream is “women” “mirror” “pearl” “oyster” “star” and “lily”.There are four types of “F”. The “women” belongs to the second type of “F”. The others belong to the first type. The “f” that attached to the "F" is the emotional material. It can be mainly divided into two categories. One is the a relatively simple kind, such as anxieties or fear; the other one is relatively complex, like religious feeling. Throughout the "Ten Nights Dream" ten dreams’ s "f" is the reflection of all kinds of anxieties to love or life. These anxieties and fears ate related to Natsume Soseki’s self-consciousness.The seemingly uncorrelated dreams in the book are inherently connected by the composition frame of “F+f”, reflecting the self-inspection of Natsume Soseki’s literature view of “F+f”. The author hides his anxiety “f” beneath the consciousness, making his anxious emotion reflected in his work. At last, the thesis further proves Natsume Soseki’s literature view of “F+f” through the “F+f”association of Ten Nights of Dream and other works before or after it, including The Miner and The Gate.
