With the rapid development of Chinese economy and frequent nation-nation exchange, more and more Chinese students start to pursue overseas education, in an attempt to acquire advanced culture and cutting-edge science and technology. Based on the Annual Report on the Development of Chinese Students Studying Abroad in the year 2011, more than 340,000 Chinese students studied abroad, accounting for 14% globally. Also, according to the 2012 US Embassy “Open Doors Report”, the number of Chinese students in the US hit a record high in the academic year of 2011-2012, reaching almost 200,000. Admittedly, academic performance is the prerequisite for application, but the significance of overseas education application texts should never be overlooked. The best universities, especially those in Ivy League, attach much importance to special talents, leadership, communicative competence and community activities, etc, except for test results. The best channel to exhibit oneself is overseas education application texts. The chances for being enrolled into the best universities are limited, so the quality of overseas education application texts plays a vital role for admission, since candidates are almost equally excellent in academic competence. The author of the present thesis explores the features of overseas education application texts, and proposes translation strategies from the perspective of translator’s subjective dynamics, thus to guide applicants to translate their application texts, and enable them to present themselves with authentic English and realize their dream of overseas study.
