A Study On The 5.13 Event Of Malaysia In 1969 And Its Impact

Problems of harmonious relationships between ethnic groups is important for the country’s development.As a multi-ethnic country,Malay(Malaysia) plagued by ethnic problems for a long time.After independence in 1957,there are always conflict between Malay and Chinese,which caused by history,politics, economy,culture and other reasons.The 13 May incident is one of worst ethnic conflict in this country.This thesis is about 13 May incident, which discusses the reason of 13 May incident’s outbreak and impact.The paper includes of introduction and four chapters.The part of introd-uction which introduces the selected topic reasons, and its significance.The introduction also writes the status of research both at domestic and overseas.In the first chapter of this paper,general mainly introduce of Malay peninsula’s geographicand its history before independent.In Chapter II is concerning the outbreak of the13 th May incident and its process.Chapter III analyses the reasons of the 13 May incident,which from history,politics,and economy.Chapter IV discuss about the influence of 13 May incident,which from politics, economy and the development of three major ethnic group.Through this research, we found that the 13 May incident,which was made by long results of the intensified contradiction between the Chinese and Malay.At the same time the event led the Malaysian government make a series of changes,which on ethnic policy and economic policy.The government hopes that can adjust the inequality between the ethnic groups, and eliminate the contradiction between ethnic groups.So that the development of Malaysia could have been in a good and stable social environment.
