On 18 th, September 1931, Japanese aggressors launched the Manchurian incident(918 incident) which shocked the whole world. The Japanese suddenly occupied the th ree northeast provinces of China, dragging those provinces into war and breaking the p eaceful life of the northeasterner. The northern parts of China and the whole country ar e destined to launch their arduous ant-Japanese war, when the Japanese invaded Chines e territory. During these devastating fourteen years, things changed, territories lost, nati on been perilous, the northeasterner and all the Chinese chose to decide their own desti ny so as to survive the war and defeat the Japanese. They were angry and roaring to wa ken the passion to save the country. Shen and other enlightened newspapers set up spec ial columns, and launched their anti-Japanese War through words.Bunches of progressive youngsters were eager to summit their papers, creating gr eat numbers of anti-Japanese literary works. Those works are no better than the tempor ary works, and even some were aimed for publicizing the anti-Japanese War, but they mattered at that time because they inspired the Chinese. The northeastern writers assu med a responsibility to save their country and immediately devoted themselves to the tr end of patriotics and national salvation. They were not afraid of Japanese coercion poli cy, and publicized the anti-Japanese works with obscurity inside the Japanese-occupied areas. When those areas posed threats to them, some of them exiled into Shanhaiguan, to Beiping, Tianjin, Qingdao, Shanghai and so on. The history of literature names thos e people, who exiled to Shanghai and other parts inside Shanhaiguan, as ’the school of t he Northeastern Writers’. The Northeastern Writers are the pioneers of anti-Japanese lit erary works, speaking firstly out their voice to fight against the Japanese. The Anti-Japanese War caused a devastating disaster to the minds and traditional culture of the Chinese. Since the May 4th Movement, China grasped the golden chance provided by the fusion of Chinese and western minds and culture and overturned and r eestablished the traditional Chinese culture as well as built a solid foundation for the C hinese culture. After the ‘918 incident’, anti-Japanese surpassed all any other things an d became the focus of that era and the whole society. During this perilous moment, the ’personality emancipation’ quitted the central stage and the theme of anti-imperialism and anti-feudalism had been deepened ever since. The rise of the school of the Northeas tern Writers changes the stage of ’no northeastern writers’. They wrote books with their own experiences, expressing their anger, the sympathy to the northeasterners and their deep nostalgia, which has become a special view in the history of literature.
