The paper is based on the field research in the Nanhua ethnic village in Sankeshu Town of Kaili City, Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture, Guizhou Province. Views towards marriage and marriage ceremony, the differences and relations between the marriage of Christians and non-Christians will be revealed, and in-depth analysis of the relation between marriage and religious faith will be furthered.Under the cultural structure, religious belief is classified as a part of ideology, and marriage of social institution. Different religious faith or culture generates diverse views of marriage. Through field research, this thesis focuses not on either Christianity or ancestor worship, but on their influence on the marriage and life of the Miao nationality in Nanhua village, for example, the discrepancy and conflict brought by religious faith, how they adjust to in their life, and how their views towards marriage have evolved with the development of times. This paper aims to demonstrate the Nanhua ethnic village Christian marriage custom is unique and it is different and interrelated.the traditional Hmong marriage customs and Christian marriage customs.The fundamental reasons for the formation of unique marriage customs in Nanhua ethnic village is the unique social and historical background.To be specific,the thesis unfolds from the following points:1. the way that Christianity was introduced into Nanhua ethnic village, and the transmission mode of marriage in particular2. the differences and relations between the marriage and views towards it of Christians and ancestor worshipers3. the differences and relations between the marriage ceremony of Christians and ancestor worshipers,its cultural change and cultural implication4. the change of views towards marriage of the Miao nationality in Nanhua villageunder the influence of faith in the evolution of historyThough lacking in comprehensive survey, the current marriage situation under the influence of religious faith is truly reflected.
