A Study On The Ritualized Communication And Cultural Identity Of The Ancestor Worship Ceremony In The Yellow Emperor’s Birthplace

General Secretary Xi Jinping has repeatedly stressed the need to tell the story of the Yellow River,the continuation of the historical lineage,firm cultural confidence.The culture of Yellow Emperor is an important part of the excellent Chinese traditional culture,the Yellow Emperor is a symbol of the 5,000-year heritage of the Chinese nation.As the birthplace of the Yellow Emperor,Xinzheng,Henan Province,has taken on the mission to inherit the culture of the Yellow Emperor to build a roots resort,and to build a community of destiny for Chinese people at home and abroad.As an intangible cultural heritage,the Ancestor Worship Ceremony held in Xinzheng,Henan Province,on the third day of the third month of the lunar calendar every year combines the content of the new era with traditional Chinese culture through the use and strengthening of a series of symbols,telling the story of the 5,000-year-old unbroken national bloodline of the Chinese nation and achieving the inheritance and promotion of traditional culture.Nowadays,the ancestral worship ceremony in the hometown of the Yellow Emperor has moved from a local folk ceremony to an officially organized cultural festival,effectively enhancing the cultural confidence,national self-confidence and cultural identity of the Chinese nation.First,this paper explores the changes and characteristics of the media paths for the ritualized communication of the Ancestor Worship Ceremony in the Internet era,and uses content analysis to explore the content of the Ancestor Worship Ceremony in new media platforms and traditional media platforms.The research samples were selected from short videos about the ancestor worship ceremony on the short video platform in Henan Province and Zhengzhou City from 2019 to 2022,and from the traditional media Henan Daily from 2006 to 2022,in order to explore the construction of the official media’s communication content about the ancestor worship ceremony.Secondly,the ritualized spatial presentation of the ancestor worship ceremony is explored from the perspective of the field theory,and the use of symbols in the ancestor worship ceremony in the hometown of the Yellow Emperor is sorted out and explained,in an attempt to explore how the use of the field and symbols in the ceremony presents cultural connotation and meaning.Again,through questionnaires and in-depth interviews,the study investigated the audiences who participated in the Ancestor Worship Ceremony,and found that watching the Ancestor Worship Ceremony can indeed have a certain influence on the audiences’ cultural identity,and activate their cultural identity based on their common cultural cognition;clan identity based on the practice of root culture;and emotional identity for their hometown and country based on their geographical connection.Finally,this study summarizes the problems that still exist in the ritualized communication of the Ancestor Worship Ceremony in the Internet era,and proposes some corresponding measures based on the opinions of the interviewees,in the hope that the Ancestor Worship Ceremony can enhance its cultural identity effect and further expand its communication power and influence in the future development.
