The colored pavilion of the Sanhui area in the Qu Country is a traditional comprehensive Chinese posing performing art. The colored pavilion combined with the traditional activities harmoniously and gradually formed the performing contents which emphasize on the pavilion posing mainly and attach importance to such activities as stilt walkers, land boating and Lord lift at Late Ming and early Qing Dynasty, when it formed the basic foundation. Then, it became an important and famous traditional comprehensive activity in this area, and was held from the 16 th to the 18 th on Mar. every year according to the lunar calendar. In addition, it became the valuable vehicles for the local people to sacrifices to Gods, to reflect their wishes and to communicate with each other. In 2008, the colored pavilion conference of the Sanhui area, which centered on the colored pavilion was typed in the representatives list of the non- material cultural heritages as the second.The pavilion art has a long history, which was born on the basis of the ancestors’ ceremonial activities, was influenced by the acrobatics in the high stage, xingxiang and xingtan ceremonial activities, and formed its basic format in the Song Dynasty. Later, it learnt from the Chinese traditional opera and other kinds of arts to rich its contents and types. In this process, it formed such cultural functions such as entertaining the public, transferring the culture, maintaining the relation and advertising for the chamber of commerce. And the reason why it had profound class foundation was that it always had the people, expressing the people’s wishes, reflecting people’s thoughts. The pavilion art was born in the middle or lower reaches of the Yellow River firstly, then was spread to the other places and combined with those local cultures, and lastly it formed many characteristic branches. Comparing with the other similar Chinese Show, it kept his basic elements and owned the local unique. Acting as one of the members of the nonmaterial cultural heritages, it is valuable because of its long history, art and science, and it is a good way to know the history and the traditional culture of the south part of Sichuan Province and to research the culture of this area.With the development of the modern economy, its survival environment was destroyed badly and the current situation is awful. Aiming to the current condition, we should take measures as soon as possible to stabilize the mechanism from the following point such as save, protection and passing; to form excellent protection system; to cultivate it properly and to look for new survival space, forming such a route: using the development for protection for a better future. The author hopes that a new path can be provided for the similar non- material cultural heritages protection by researching the protection and development strategies of the colored pavilion of the Sanhui area in the Qu Country.
