This paper selects a representative series of elementary course teaching materials as research object, and through internal quantitative analysis approach, conducts a comprehensive assessment for status of text selection for teaching materials. This paper mainly focuses on researching theme and content, genre, difficulty level of text, and localization contents of text of “Elementary Chinese” textbook.This study appl i es quantitative statistical methods, data analysis, literature research and comparative analysis, and from theme and content perspective, sums up number s and cat egor i es of t heme and cont ent i n two volumes of textbook, as well as demonstrates certain principles of theme selection; from text genre perspective, sums up the quantity and distribution of genre used in this book series; from difficulty level of text perspective, analyses the control scale for text length, sentence length, number of new words and distribution of new words grade used in this book series; from localization contents of text perspective, analysis the status of pr es ent i ng localization cont ent s i n t hi s t ext book.This study hopes to provide certain references for the revision and usage, as well as for the editing work and selection of text of “Elementary Chinese” for Indonesian textbook.
