| The novel Jiu Guo by Mo Yan is well-accepted and gains great acclaim in the western world, which is largely contributed to the English translator Goldblatt. To some extent, the translation of Jiu Guo by Goldblatt is a process of rewriting. According to Lefevere, translation is rewriting of original works, and all the rewritings reflect the influence of certain poetics and ideology to the literary works. So, the creative treason is omnipresent in the process of translation.This research takes the Rewriting Theory of Lefevere as the theoretical foundation, and analyzes the creative treason translation in Goldblatt’s translation of The Republic of Wine.70 creative treason translation examples are collected from the English translation The Republic of Wine on the two constraints of ideology and poetics in Rewriting Theory and the emphasis is on the analysis of 25 creative treason translation of culture-loaded and rhetorical expressions. A conclusion will be made on the creative treason translation types. The creative treason translation of culture-loaded expressions mainly focuses on social culture-loaded, linguistic culture-loaded and historical culture-loaded expressions. The creative treason translation of rhetorical expressions are simile, iteration, antithesis and rhetorical question. This research is on the basis of creative treason translation types raised by professor Xie Tianzhen and four types of creative treason translation are summarized based on the analysis, namely abridged translation, edited translation, individualized translation and mistranslation, among which the first two are the most apparent. After full analysis, it is clear that the creative treason translation helps to facilitate and promote the diffusion of The Republic of Wine in western world. |
