The Study On The Theory Of Mind Under The Task Of Common Knowledge

The theory of mind is the ability to make inference or cognition about the relationship between the mental state and the behavior of others.It has a very important influence on the individual’s cognition, behavior and understanding of others and social interaction. Researchers had studies the theory of mind from different angles, including the development mechanism of the theory of mind,they had explained a lot of different views, and formed a number of theories to explain the theory of mind.Among them, there are two theories which are widely accepted-Theory of theory and Simulation theory.Theory of theory said that in the development of individual, it had formed a series of knowledge system,such as belief, desire or intent. This kind of knowledge system of knowing or understanding about the mind is the basis of the individual in the inference and predicition of others;However, The Simulation Theory said that individuals simulate and predict the others through their cognition of their own mental state and behavior. In conclusion, the two theories both predict the others from their own point of view, but ignore the influence of the others factors for inference and prediction which we called theory of mind.In this study,we explain the inference and prediction about the others’ psychological state from two aspects of self and others.In this study, Using the innovation of theory of mind research paradigm, through three experiments respectively from the perspective of self and others to examine the inference and prediction of others. Experiment1 was to explore the influence of inference and prediction others from the self clues and others clues; Experiment2 hrough feedback to change individual inference about the self inquiry self factors for inference and prediction of the influence of others.Experiment 3 through changing the clues of others to explore the influence of the prediction of others. Draw the following conclusions:Firstly, the theory of mind in cognitive tasks will be based on self clues and other clues.Secondly, the feedback changes the individual’s self simulation, thus affecting the Theory of Mind. On the contrary, if the feedback leads to the underestimate of self monitoring, then it will also lead to the underestimate of monitoring to others.Thirdly, if an individual discovers the difference between himself and others by obtaining the information of others, it will affect his inference to others.
