Gabriel Faure (1845-1924) is a famous French musician, composer and organist, who was born in early Romanticism. Influenced by Schumann, Chopin, Wagner and other romantic composers, he absorbed the romantic style of composition, but at the same time he also inherited and carried forward the French national music. His composing style constitutes elegant and lyric temperament, which is opposed to romanticism and French impressionist, pursuing inner-feelings.It is Faure unique music style that formed a connecting link between the preceding and the following in the history of European music at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. As a graduate student for three years, the author has earnestly studied Faure’s "Impromptu" when playing and researching his music pieces. The author intends to combine personal playing experience with music score analysis in order to analyze Faure’s NO.25 opus from aspects of development practices, touching keys and pedals, and make further efforts to further interpretation of the artistic value of the song. At last, Faure’s distinctive music ideal and the embodiment of French nation music style in his music are extensively stated.
