The Influence Of Reminding People Of Magnanimous Ideals To The Hostility After People Are Threatened

In the fast pace of modern life, when many people face failure and different types and natures of threat, as a general rule, we are all through violence and hostile to ease the discomfort of threat.This makes us easier to belittle the value of others, more inclined to revenge,Even more intrusive. However, Blindly violence and hostility are not the best way to lessen the threat discomfort, because it may cause unnecessary fights and even wars. In fact, the hostile reaction of threat usually occurs in the absence of restricting factors, these hostile reaction can be guided by some belief.It is widely recognized there are magnanimous ideals in religion, reminding the magnanimous ideals of religious believers, helps them reducing pain and hostility after threat.Therefore, based on the magnanimous ideals contained in thousands of years of Chinese traditional, this study attempts to investigate that whether reminding Chinese people of their magnanimous ideals would reduce the hostility of cognition and behavior after threat. By reminding the experimental magnanimous ideals and death threat situation, in Study 1, we examines the participants’ acquisition of hostile vocabulary under threat. By reminding the experimental magnanimous ideals and human threat situation, in Study 2, we examines the participants’ choices of hostile capital allocation ratio under threat. The experimental results found that:1.Under the background of death threat, reminding of the participants’ magnanimous ideals than not to remind means to get less cognitive of hostile vocabulary.2.Even under the background of death threat, whether to remind the participants’ magnanimous ideals or not, did not increase the acquisition of magnanimous vocabulary.3.Under the background of human threat,reminding of the participants’ magnanimous ideals than not to remind will make a less hostile capital allocation.The experimental results show that the magnanimous ideals in Chinese traditional culture, can effectively mitigate the hostility of cognition and behavior after threat.In addition, reducing the hostility at the same time, people did not behave more magnanimous.This may be related to the reminding of self defense mechanism when people in the threat situation.
