Modernity Reflection Of Chinese New Generation Science Fiction

Science fiction was born in modern society. The core of it is science and technology. So sci-fi and modernity are closely related. In the 1990 s, the creation of sci-fi in China has entered a new stage of development, known as the New Generation. The common theme of the new generation of sci-fi is mostly about modernity problems of Chinese society. The research on the modernity reflection of the new generation of sci-fi can provide a reference for contemporary science fiction criticism, and clarify the value and new progress of the new generation of sci-fi. By this kind of reflective writing, the New Generation science fiction explores a way to the harmonious development of society, technology and humanities. This article is divided into six parts:Firstly, the introduction part elucidates the two concepts of the New Generation science fiction and modernity and their relationships. By comparing with the former generation of science fiction, this part summed up the new generation science fiction’s new features, and lists the relevant research results and the status quo, and also illustrates the research train of thought.The first part summarizes the positive role of the new generation science fiction in positive depicting the future blueprint, which includes the picture of hope for the future society as well as the affirmation of the value of human.The second part of this article is about critique of the social system. This area is divided into two parts: one is the writers’ irony of the social institutions through the construction of dystopia, and the other is their opinions about the alienation of human.The third part is about criticism of the technology of the new generation science fiction. This part explored the dark side of the rapid development of science as well as of the technology-oriented phenomena.The third part examines the technical supremacy of torture of the new generation science fiction. This part explored the dark side of the rapid development of science as well as of the technology-oriented phenomena.The fourth part explores the human nature of good and evil of the new generation science fiction. Through this discrimination, young writers are constantly searching for the perfect human nature and calling for the return of traditional values.In conclusion, this paper summarized progress and new value of Chinese contemporary science fiction and put forward some shallow views and expectations.
