Western folk antique furniture as a branch of Chinese folk antique furniture, with a distinctive traditional culture of western Sichuan, loads excellent quality of traditional culture in different era of western Sichuan. These furniture making inherits educational value with a long history. It is permeating educational essence of Chinese traditional culture from the natural advantages of Western Sichuan region to respective merits of the entire local carpenters and from local materials to elaborately making. It which integrated superb construction technology, strong religious traditions, refined taste and elegant literati and developed business cultural etc. is a rare resources of school education curriculum. It presents unique social cultural and educational implications through static symbols such as pictures, sculpture and structure on the traditional furniture and communication between dynamic behaviors such as furniture production, use and circulation with lifestyle.The furniture which is simple but decent, creative and full of geographical characteristics met the public’s aesthetic and was very popular at that time in western Sichuan, and is material of the traditional civilization used to pass to future generations for vocational education. However, with rapid economic development, these traditional techniques with past glories have been in difficult situation which is to be a lost is urgent to be protected.Vocational school is the forefront to develop personnel with comprehensive vocational ability, high-quality, and skilled of production and service line.It is an effective way to research how to cultivate talents of western Sichuan furniture for solving the problem traditional techniques are to lost. It is hoped that these old craft can be effectively protected and herited in vocational education.Research of this paper is aimed to figure out how the vocational school use traditional cultural implications of furniture in western Sichuan to train students to have a core understanding of the quality of traditional culture and the vocational bility to make traditional crafts.One purpose of this paper is to extract the course meaning of vocational education based on the inheritance,development and innovation of traditional furniture art in western Sichuan through analysis to the physical variety, shape, structure, decoration, material,tree species and value of thousand pieces of western Sichuan traditional furniture and pictures, and the other purpose is to sum up the making law, trace the origins of the furniture, research inheritance status and look for educational value of traditional technology. It is a realistic task to refine the core content of these studies into core curriculum for personnel training required which contains western Sichuan furniture origin and Humanities Art, western furniture Appreciation, western furniture surveying, carpentry techniques and practice, carving and practice, lacquer craft and practice, research on timber of western Sichuan furniture, research on decoration of western Sichuan furniture, research on structure of western Sichuan furniture, western furniture restoration and protection, Western Sichuan furniture and digital technology, ergonomics, design and production of furniture series, internships, etc. through discussing inheritance issues deeply and combining educational function of traditional crafts of western Sichuan furniture and to explore the mode of cultivating traditional craft talents at vocational schools in western Sichuan.Significance of this study is that, through the western Sichuan Traditional Culture specific analysis and extraction, to promote reflection pluralistic training objectives, expand the research space of effct of the traditional culture on vocational school, and enrich vocational education theory and promote the quality education practice of vocational school students.
