Preliminary Sorting Out And Analysis Of Historical Data About Museum In Shenbao(1912-1949)

Shenbao was the longest newspaper in modern China, which had extensive social influence. It was known as the encyclopedia of China’s modern history. The collection and sorting out of the historical data about museum in Shenbao is very necessary for the study of history of China’s modern museums.This paper is a study on the historical data about museum in Shenbao from 1912 to 1949. There was a great diversity of museums during the period of Republic of China, such as museum, exhibition hall, memorial hall, gallery, zoo, arboretum and aquarium. Because the historical data about museum in Shenbao is abundant and multifarious, so this paper focuses on the historical data of museum in China and discusses the new historical data about museum of the Republic of China.The paper is divided into five parts as follows:The first part is an introduction that introduces the reason of the study, research object and method of the study, explanation of basic concept, and the research status in China.Chapter one is a holistic approach to historical data about museum in Shenbao. With the data and content analysis to illustrate the characteristics of the historical data of museum.Chapter two is an individual analysis of historical data about museum in Shenbao. The historical data of museum was classified into two types: historical data of multiple museum and historical data of theme museum. There are some little-unknown museums of the Republic of China are introduced, such as the National Museum of Border Culture, Xijing Culture Museum, Natural History Museum, Water Conservancy Museum, Qingdao Aquarium and Ocean Museum, Revolution History Museum, Educational Museum, Shanghai Police Museum and the Museum of History of Medicine.Chapter three is a subject analysis of historical data about museum in Shenbao. This article has discussed two major topics in this part. One of the topics is about the museum and school education in Republican China, and the other is about the museum and social life in Republican China.The last part is the conclusion which reiterates the main viewpoints.
