"Propensity" is an important category of ancient Chinese painting theory. It is the results of the unity of subjective and objective factors in the painter’s artistic creation.It is the embodiment of the artist’s aesthetic temperament and interest. It is also the goal for the painters to pursue in the artistic creation. Throughout of the history of the development of "Propensity", the combination of "Propensity" and the painting and becoming the important category of painting theory is not an accident. Especially during the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the consciousness of pursuing "Propensity" in the painting widely seeped into the painting creation practice and gradually formed a relatively complete theoretical system which had a profound influence to the development of the art of painting of the Ming and Qing Dynasties."Propensity" relates to various aspects of the art of painting and throughout the painting creation. It has been an important part of the Ming and Qing Painting Theory and Practice. "Propensity" is widely present in the Ming and Qing painting theory works, fully demonstrated the profound Videos theorists have recognized the important role of "Propensity" in the art of painting. Therefore, "Propensity" has been developed to the Ming and Qing Dynasties basically become an important part of Chinese painting aesthetic system.This paper based on Chinese traditional painting art and used Ming and Qing Dynasties as time node to research the specific Modality of paintings "Propensity" and its impact on the painting creation in Ming and Qing Dynasties.Mainly through the following four aspects: First, to clarify the historical development context of pursing "Propensity" in the painting theory and to have a basic understanding of the connotation of the "Propensity" of painting. Second, to explain the forming factors of "Propensity" and the characteristics of the "Propensity" through the perspective of aesthetic activities. Third, to make the "Propensity" put into the painting artistic creation of the Ming and Qing Dynasties to show the connotation of the theory of "Propensity" in painting during this period. Fourth, to expound the importance of the "Propensity" in the painting composition through the "Propensity" and the beauty of the art of painting relationship analysis and combining concrete works. To emphasize the influence of the theory of "Propensity" on the painting art development of Ming and Qing Dynasties.
