As one of the most outstanding representative figures of Queer theory, Judith Butler made a great contribution to the fields of Feminist and gender studies. In particular, her gender performative theory, in a sense, has the power to subvert the traditional hegemony system of heterosexual culture. She leads a new direction for someone who is at the edge of society. More than that, as a new means of literary criticism, her performative theory of gender opens the way for new research directions, and opens a new field of research as well.For such a famous theorist in the West, the research on her is still relatively weak in our country. Therefore, from the theoretical implication and aesthetic practice, the author research her theory thought systematicly and detailly. In this paper, Butler’s performative theory of gender is discussed from the following aspects:The first part mainly introduces and combs theoretical sources of Butler’s performative theory of gender. The second part discusses connotation and characteristics of Butler’s performative theory of gender. This part focuses on discussing the constructiveness of sex and the performativity of gender identity. The third part mainly discusses Butler’s gender aesthetics practice. In this part, the author emphasizes and explains uniqueness and special significance of body and gender norms in Butler’s theory,and mainly discusses the view of Butler’s reading about Antigone. According to different interpretation of Hegel, Laean and Butler’s reading of Antigone, the author shows the unique value of Butler’s reading of Antigone. The fourth part researches that as a new means of literary criticism, not only we should keep a focus on literary texts, but also concern and pay attention to the cultural phenomenon and gender all the time. We should approval and pay attention to the marginal groups emotion of marginal groups.
