A Study On The Thoughts Of Administering Country Of Kongzijiayu

Confucius thinking of administering country had been admired by previous dynasties monarch. It had a profound influence on later generations. Kongzijiayu detailed recorded the words, deeds and thoughts of Confucius and his disciples. In recent years, more and more scholars have realized the research value of kongzijiayu. It has the important value of historical data to study Confucius and Confucian culture.This article focuses on kongzijiayu as a research center. I attempt to refine the specific content of Confucius governing thoughts from it. This paper summarized Confucius governing ideas from three aspects:governing by morality, rule country by rite and aided by penalty. I tried to restore the original idea of Confucius from the three parts comprehensively and systematically. The first chapter introduces the Confucius thoughts from discipline, respecting the worthy and love people. The second chapter introduces Confucius gains and losses on the "rite". By introducing the "benevolence" into "rite", Confucius expanded the connotation and function of "rite". Confucius putted forward the key and the goal of rite based on it. The third chapter by quoting the background and origin of Confucius penalty theory, describes the ideal of principle of criminal punishment and the ideal of punishment policy.From kongzijiayu and other historical data can be seen that Confucius advocated rule of virtue and rule of rite. But Confucius did not ignore the important role of the penalty in governing country. Confucius believed benevolent role is a prerequisite for punishment and rule of law is a necessary complement of benevolent rule. Confucius advocated the strategy of governing country of rule by virtue mainly and supplemented with rule by law, using both virtue and penalty, combining punishment policy.
