This report studies the excerpts of author 's translation of the Book ?(section 1)of Anabasis: The March Up Country. The selected cases, altogether 10,000 words,are the most representative examples of the author 's whole translation practices which are over 100,000 words. This article presents a summary and analysis about the translation strategies adopted in dealing with some difficult sentences and phrases.With the deepening of economic globalization and cultural exchange, learning foreign culture has become more and more important. The translator's goal of selecting Anabasis: The March Up Country as a translation version is to introduce Greek culture to Chinese readers. Translating is a process of selecting, which comes down to a variety of factors,ranging from material choosing to wording and phrasing.Thus, the author chooses skopostheorie as the theoretical guidance, and analyses the translation methods and skills such as addition, omission, annotation, and recasting adopting in case studies. The author holds the view that a translation work shall follow the principles of skopos, coherence and fidelity so that its readers may have a better understanding of the translated version so as to achieve the purpose of cultural transmission. In the mean time, the author hopes this report will be of a certain referential value for the translation of historical works.
