Modern Modeling Transformation Of China Shang And Zhou Dynasties’ Bronze Ware Patterns

The history of decorative patterns art of China is of long standing. As early as the paleolithic era, in the ancient archaeological culture arose in Yellow River basin, the decorative patterns art had become an important carrier which reflected aesthetic conception of ancestors. With the development of productivity, in Shang Dynasty and Zhou Dynasty the development of bronze technology reached the peak. As a tool for ancestors to sacrifice and divinate, bronze ware played an important role in politic and social life of the times,making the decorative patterns on bronze ware a milestones in the art history of the whole world.After Shang and Zhou, despite the tendency that the bronze ware gradually decreased, the decorative patterns on it still shines in Chinese arts culture, having profound impacts on other arts including Chinese painting, calligraphy and ceramics etc. in later ages.However, since the beginning of the modern time, due to a lack of exploitation, the value of the bronze decorative patterns has been greatly underestimated for a long time. It would be a great regret if the bronze decorative patterns could not be reasonably transformed into modern design. Through long-time research and investigation, this dissertation finds that patterns art have a lot of common characteristics with modern art,such as the aesthetic taste and simple creation. On this basis,this dissertation wishes to transform the Chinese patterns art of bronze ware of Shang and Zhou Dynasties into modernization through various ways.This dissertation confirms the research object as the bronze ware patterns in Shang and Zhou Dynasties and tries to combine the traditional bronze ware patterns with the modern expression,thus exploring and realizing its modern modeling transformation.The thesis consists of five parts: Firstly, on the basis of illustrating the significance of the subject, this dissertation analyzes the research status of current academia on bronze ware patterns of Shang and Zhou Dynasties through field research and literature reading.Secondly, this dissertation introduces the bronze ware patterns of Shang and Zhou Dynasties and analyzes its cultural and artistic value. Thirdly, this dissertation combines the bronze ware patterns with the modern culture, thus exploring the modern modeling transformation of bronze ware patterns of Shang and Zhou Dynasties in various ways. Fourthly, this dissertation tries to make modern product designs with the transformed bronze ware patterns and then puts forward some theoretical and practical conceptions and suggestions based on the exploration above.Fifthly, Chapter Five, this dissertation makes a conclusion.
