Vocabulary learning is the foundation of language learning. On the basis of a certain vocabulary, students can develop listening, speaking, reading, writing and translating ability. Vocabulary learning is the first problem and the biggest obstacle of learning English for many students. Scholars generally agree that vocabulary learning strategies can improve the efficiency of students’ vocabulary learning, but study on higher vocational students’ English vocabulary strategies are relatively few and there are a few study on unfavorable conditions in vocabulary learning strategies training.This article investigates 210 students’ vocabulary learning strategies in Shanxi Water Conservancy Vocational and Technical College through the questionnaire, it shows that 1, the student’s vocabulary level is much lower than the higher vocational English teaching requirements, even nearly half of all students cannot keep pace with English teaching; 2, The student don’t know much about the vocabulary learning strategies, 41.1% of the students did not know the vocabulary learning strategies, 45.9% of the students to know some vocabulary learning strategies; 3, the condition of the application of vocabulary learning strategies is not ideal, 33.3% of the students rarely use vocabulary learning strategies, and 30.0% of the students don’t use at all; 4, seven kinds of common vocabulary learning strategy use frequency order from high to low is: Dictionary> Repetition> Phonetics> Guessing> Imagery> Context> word-formation. Through natural phonics training and the s vocabulary test scores before and after the training between control class and experimental class, it explores the influencing factors of vocabulary learning strategies: 1, meta-cognitive strategy and social emotional on vocabulary learning cognitive strategies; 2, vocabulary level; 3, strategy knowledge and experience; 4, the traditional teaching mode. According to these factors put forward to countermeasures and Suggestions in future vocabulary strategy teaching of higher vocational: 1, not only pay attention to the development of cognitive strategy, also attaches great importance to the meta-cognitive strategy and social strategy; 2, abandon the past only teacher talking traditional teaching mode;3, for a variety of strategies training, form a strategy system.
