A Study On The Nature Of Contemporary Book Binding

The development of the art of book binding and design is closely related to the development of mass aesthetic ability. The rapid growth of contemporary art and people’s understanding, acceptance, appreciation and love of it virtually pushed forward the direction of the art of book binding and design. The public are looking forward to works with contemporary book design and superior quality. This thesis focuses on how book binding integrate elements of contemporary art into the art of book binding and design in the environment of contemporary artistic development. Through a research of present published books and papers on relevant subject matters, this thesis explores various application forms of contemporary elements in book binding, and aims to inspire book binding designers to create works that conform to contemporary aesthetic standards as well as artistic features.
