| With the overall exchanges between China and overseas countries, interpreting plays a more important role in intercultural communication. As the important form of interpretation, consecutive interpreting is worthy of further discussion with the purpose to improve the quality of interpretation. This paper is on the author’s performance of interpreting simulation, aiming at exploring feasible methods to improve the interpreting quality. To begin with, the material is the recorded lecture given by Dr. Piotr Blumczynski, the Dean of MTI of the Language School from Queen’s University Belfast, who visited Foreign Language Department, Jilin University on March 17,2015. The author did the English-to-Chinese simulated consecutive interpreting for Dr.Piotr Blumczynski. Then, the whole process of the simulation was video-cameraed, and the recording was transcribed shown in Appendix, at the same time, based on the transcription, the author systematically reviewed and analyzed her performance in the simulation. During the retrospective process, the author analyzed the mistakes and the corresponding countermeasures were discussed too.It is expected that this reflective research report on simulated consecutive interpreting could enhance the author’s interpreting ability and at the same time, could be of some help to other interpreters. |
