The Image Of Ink Painting And The Visual Expression Of Architecture

Nowdays, with the cultural context of architecture attracting increasing concern, many domestic architects are designing more creative architectures, inspired by other Chinese traditional culture, such as calligraphy, painting and so on. Similarly, the purpose of this paper is to find inspirations for architecture especially for its form and surface from the traditional Chinese painting, which composes indispensable part of Chinese culture.The topic of the image of ink painting and visual expression of architecture would be mainly discussed in this paper. Taking contemporary architecture as the research object and by utilizing visual analysis from Chinese painting techniques, composition of picture and spirit of nature in Chinese painting, this paper studies and researches three main aspects:materials, architectural forms of visions, and the relationships between nature and the images of architecture. The paper analyzes and concludes the connection between the ink painting and visual expression, as well as its inspiration for the mentality of design.Chapters 2 to 4 will discuss and establish the connection between Chinese painting and the visual expression of architecture. Chapter 2 discusses the details and feelings that the ink painting brings to its observer, and the comparison between the paintings in which analyze the characteristics of techniques and architecture. In chapter 3, the focuses are on the connection between factors of architecture and the composition of pictures. This is done through examining various elements of ink painting, such as "host and guest", correlation, whole and part as well as the skill of blanks. Finally, in chapter 4, it explores the conception of nature revealed from Chinese painting and its influence to the spirit of architecture. Using Chinese painting, the abstracted and simplified expression of nature by the artists, this chapter will categorize the similar buildings, discuss the relationship between them and nature to cultivate spiritual atmosphere of architecture.Not to addressing every aspects of how architects are influenced by Chinese paintings, this paper is written with the purpose to contribute in tracing some origins of creation about Architecture and based on which it could provide references for the construction of emotional spaces and forms.
