A Philologic Study On Chen Mengjia’s Xizhou TongqiDuandai

This is a philology study of Chen Mengjia’s Xizhou tongqi duandai. Chen Mengjia had two versions Xizhou tongqi duandai, the first version was published in six parts on Acta Archaeologica Sinica during 1954--1956 years, hereinafter referred to as "Acta Archaeologica Sinica edition"; the second version was published by the Zhonghua Book Company in 2002, professor Zhao luorui and The institute of Archaeology CASS made grate effort to collected the unpublished posthumous wrotten before Chen Mengjia’s death. This version we call it ” Zhonghua Book Company edition”.We found that there is a lot of differences between the two versions of Xizhou tongqi duandai. The differences not only reflects the changes of Chen Mengjia’s personal research, but also the development of the whole Guwenzi academia. Therefore, this paper tries to find out every differences between this two versions, and make it into form. Meanwhile, we tried to find out the different opinions of bronzes dating on the three major scholars, Chen Mengjia, Tang lan, Guo Muoruo,and list the dating and reasons for every bronzes mentioned in Xizhou tongqi duandai from the three scholars. We also choose 19 most important words which Chen Mengjia tried to make an explanation in the Xizhou tongqi duandai, and reexplan it with the current academic research.This thesis consists the following components:Introduction section. This part of the study on the background of the article, the objectives and significance of the research. Meanwhile, we introduce Chen Mengjia’s life and academic achievement, academic study of the Chen Mengjia academic situation overview.The first chapter, the table for the differences between Acta Archaeologica Sinica edition and Zhonghua Book Company edition Xizhou tongqi duandai. In this chapter we not only listed all the differences, but also classified the differences.The second chapter, the table for the dating and reasons on the bronzes listed in the Xizhou tongqi duandai from Chen Mengjia, Tang lan, Guo Muoruo. This form includes a very specific list about the three major scholars dating and reasons for the Xizhou tongqi duandai, it made this article very easy to use for readers to find out the difference of methods of bronzes dating between the three schlars.The third chapter, a review for 19 important words explained in the Xizhou tongqi duandai. In this chapter we chose 19 most important words explained by Chen Mengjia in Xizhou tongqi duandai, and introduce them using the current Guwenzi academic research, also to showing a history of academic development in Guwenzi research.The appendix is a table for the bronzes detail in Yinzhou jinwen jicheng and Shangzhou qingtongqi mingwen ji tuxiang jicheng which metioned in Xizhou tongqi duandai. It will be much easier for readers looking for bronzes mentioned in Xizhou tongqi duandai’s details using this table.
