As a new method of translation teaching, simulated simultaneous interpreting(hereinafter referred to as SSI) practice, not only provides chances for students to practise their skills and strengthen their simultaneous interpreting competence, but also improves their psychological quality. The programme Can international cooperation in anti-corruption block corrupt officials from absconding? in Tiger Talk on Nov. 29 th, 2014, is selected as materials to be interpreted in this thesis for SSI practice. The practice process is to be sound- and video-recorded and then be transformed into texts. In this paper, the strategies for talk shows simultaneous interpreting(hereinafter referred to as SI) are studied on the basis of communicative translation theory raised by Peter Newmark, the English translator and translation theorist. The thesis takes the following steps in its study: firstly, all these recorded materials will be used to complete this SSI practical report, documenting in detail the general task description,SSI process and interpreting assessment; secondly, the textual features of talk shows are analyzed to and corresponding strategies are put forward; thirdly, the interpreting difficulties met in the SSI process are also analyzed and countermeasures are proposed; finally, the author summarizes the enlightenment from this SSI practice and offers her expectations on future SI studies of talk shows.Fully combined with communicative translation theory, corresponding strategies are proposed after the analysis of the features of talk shows in the SSI practice. The author proposes two kinds of solutions to information loss: one is reorganizing and eliminating unnecessary information and the other one is setting priorities and simplification. And to solve the problem of misplacement, using words instead of phrases and effectively translating the key words are proposed. The ways to avoid misunderstanding are follow-up amendments, adding pronouns and changing sentence types. It is hoped that this study will offer some valuable insights into studies andpractices of talk shows SI.
