The south central area of Inner Mongolia is a place where agriculture civilization from Central Plains meets the nomadic civilization from Northern China. The archaeological there is complicated. With the interaction between the two civilizations,the subsistence patterns of the ancient inhabitants and people groups change a lot.With the development of natural science and archaeology, more and more natural scientific methods have been applied to research in humanistic and social science area.The bioarchaeological researches on skeletal human remains also become an important part of archaeology and anthropology.The human remains from the Dongtouhao site(Warring States period) represent an earlier group of inhabitants in south central Inner Mongolia, China. The full text of this research is divided into six chapters, and demographic, morphological and statistic methods have been used to get more detailed information about the living conditions of the people there from the skeletons of the people living in Dongtouhao.ChapterⅠis "Introduction". It is a brief overview the geographical and cultural of Dongtouhao location and archaeological context, and then clarifies the purpose and significance of this study.Chapter Ⅱ is a demographic research based on sex identification and age estimation on skeletons from Dongtouhao site. According to the results, 10 males and4 females are identified, and the average life expectancy of the whole site is35.71(male: 37, female: 32.5). Lots of people died in their young adulthood and middle-age adulthood, which shows a poor living condition in Dongtouhao site.Chapter Ⅲ aimed to analyze the living standard and nutrition, subsistence patterns and even the division of labor in this site by doing morphologic research on limb.Chapter Ⅳ is about the skulls morphological characteristics research and study on racial types of Dongtouhao ancient population. When comparing with modern groups, it turns out that, inhabitants from Dongtouhao site have a close relationship with the modern east Asia mongoloid.Chapter Ⅴ is the multivariate statistical analysis of the skulls in Dongtouhao. By analyzing the data from metric characters and then comparing with other ancient groups, the result illustrate that people in this site might come from Central Plains.Chapter Ⅵ is conclusion, it is a summarization of the research in the first five chapters.
