A Consecutive Interpreting Practical Report On 《The Rise Of The Great Powers》the Third Chapter Move Towards Modern、the Fourth Chapter Industrial Forerunner

In this practice report, the author chose two episodes of CCTV documentary "The Rise of the Great Powers", which talks about the rise of Britain, as corpus to do the interpreting practice. This is the first transnational producing documentary produced by CCTV about the rising history, rising reason and rising rules of nine worldwide superpowers. As "The Rise of the Great Powers" broadcast, it aroused widespread concern at home and abroad. However, there are no synchronized English subtitles for this documentary. Then the author made a study to analyze this problem: the interpreter and the audience. While translated the subtitles, the interpreter also made deep analysis of the problems in this process. In the interpreting preparation stage, the author carefully watched the documentary, took down the Chinese subtitles, read a number of related historical documents, established a corpus of British history in 16th and 17th century, and summarized the accurate English expression of the historical and cultural vocabulary. Then, the interpreter used the interpretation skills that she grasped in study and work to make a detailed introduction of the third episode, of "Move towards Modern" and the fourth episode "Industrial forerunner". She also illustrated and summarized the interpretation skills which can be used for the compilation of interpreting literature as a reference.The practice report is consist of three parts, the introduction, the body and the conclusion.The first part is an introduction of the background and content of "The Rise of the Great Powers" as well as the reason and purpose which she choose this documentary.The second part is a detailed description of the interpreting process. The author started her interpreting from two aspects, the preparation before the interpretation and the process of interpretation, to describe her process of thinking the preparation work. The author introduced the relevant strategies and techniques, and then described the detailed interpretation process. She listed characteristic examples and illustrated the solving process of the problems to reflect the entire interpreting process intuitively.The third part is a summary of the whole process of the interpretation. In this report, according to an analysis of the interpreting process in the third and fourth episode of "The Rise of the Great Powers", the author illustrated the bewilderment, the interpreting problems. Meanwhile, she analyzed the entire interpreting process and summed up the good things to provide valuable experience for future interpretation work.
