The Civil War and the second Industrial revolution changed the social structure and the economic structure of the United States. The impact of this transition is far-reaching. This paper focuses on the labor force after the Civil War of the United States, inquires into the reasons of labor force changes in the structure and the reasons for the change, and explores the impact of the changes of the labor force structure on the development of the history.The introduction mainly reviews the studies about the labor issues in China and America, confirms the research direction and important problems to be solved, the research approach and the relevant methods and theory.The text is divides into three parts: Part one inspects the source of employment and the labor force, the income levels and living conditions of labors in this period, as well as the labors facing social problems before the Civil War of America. Part two inquires into the progress of the economy, the changes of labor force, and the new features generated after the Civil War. Part three analyzes the reasons of changes in the structure and characteristics of the labor force before and after the civil war, and explores the characteristics of labor problems in the United States compared with other capitalist countries.The last part is the conclusion, which summarizes this paper and tries to make objective and complete evaluation to the labor issue according to the concrete environment of society and history.
