This behavior not merely protects the material culture but inherits and carries forward the spirit of Chinese nation.Rhino skin is one of lacquer art techniques in the Chinese traditional culture, which has fewer literatures compared with other lacquer art techniques, causing people unknown about it. Many lacquer lifestyle products unearthed from Zhu Ran tomb in Ma On Shan shows that people decorated their life utensil with lacquer early in the Three Kingdom Period, which opens the history of Chinese traditional lacquer process and let the old craft appear at people’s sight again. The most remarkable excavation is a couple of ear cups, the discovery shocked the whole archaeology and changes the original research on the history of rhino skin. But the slow development of lacquer art industry as a whole, or even a recession trend, makes this technique is not very good inheritance and development. Therefore, it is particularly important to protect and inherit the rhino skin art and its aesthetic value, make it to join to the development of modern society and applied to people’s life.This thesis is the application researches for rhino skin in modern interior design by mean of research methods such as literature check, field survey and practice. For one thing, it is the material and cultural heritage of lacquer art, for another thing, according to the analysis of its manufacture method and its expression of aesthetic value, we can develop the charm of rhino skin and build relationship between it with the modern interior design, incorporate its diversified form of expression into the modern interior design, inherit the culture and improve the aesthetic taste of the public. Base on it, we can explore new development concept, make it enter into people’s life and realize the value of traditional culture in modern society. It can not only can increase the style of modern interior design but also provide a new approach for the inheritance of local traditional culture.
