Subjective well-being is a holistic assessment of living quality according to self-made standard by evaluators.It is decided by evaluators’ subjective evaluation,not by outside objective standards,including both cognitive and interventive components(Diener,2000).The study covers theoretical research and intervention research, theoretical research takes the cluster random sampling method.Researchers picks 344 undergraduates of different grades and different majors of Shanghai Normal University.The survey uses Subjective Well-being Questionnaire(SWQ),Adolescent Self-Rating Life Events Check-list(ASLEC), Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire-Chinese Version(CERQ-C)to finddemographic difference,explore the relationship among undergraduates’ subjective well-being,negative life events and cognitive emotionregulation,study whether the negative cognitive emotionregulation plays a mediating role between subjective well-being and negative life events or not. The intervention research depends on the theoretical research.Researchers recruit 8 experimental group members and 8 control group members,design and carry out narrative orientedgroup counseling.The group therapy continues weekly during 6 weeks.The intervention adopts narrative therapy to reduce nonadaptivecognitive emotionregulation,so that undergraduates’ subjective well-being promotes. SWQ,ASLEC,CERQ-C are taken before and after the group counseling.The results suggest that:(1)The overall of undergraduates’ subjective well-being is fine.In other words, undergraduates’ life satisfaction is above average,positive emotion is in the average,negative emotion is below the average.(2)Undergraduates’ subjective well-being shows significant gender differences.In other words,female college students’ subjective well-being and life satisfaction are better than male students’,female students’ positive emotion is better than male students’, female and male students’ nagative emotion are equally matched.(3) There is correlation between subjective well-being,negative life events and cognitive emotion regulation, the negative cognitive emotionregulation plays a mediating role between subjective well-being and negative life events,with intermediary effect of 39.5%.(4)narrativegroup counseling can reduce nonadaptive cognitive emotion regulation,open new stories,reach the aim of promoting undergraduates’ subjective well-being.
