Circumstances And Transcendence Of Intellectuals

Zhang Xianliang is a very representative writer in Chinese contemporary literature, which was forced to reform for more than 20 years because of the blood relationship and the creation of early poetry. The Cultural Revolution ended he took this period of history as a key, described the fate of intellectuals in the suffering of life and tried to break the chain and beyond the desire of history and reality. Zhang Xianliang’s literary creation had a strong sense of intellectuals. He actively considered and sought the way out of the prosperity of the nation in literature. Besides his literary works were permeated with the spirit of enlightenment. Zhang Xianliang was a brave and individual writer who actively sought literary creation. His literary creation generally started a trend. At the same time, he became a controversial writer in Chinese literary circles because of his various identity.This paper is based on the creation of Zhang Xianliang as the object of study after the end of the Cultural Revolution. And this paper is divided into three chapters according to his creation type in different periods.In the first chapter, the paper discusses the contradiction of Zhang Xianliang identity of intellectuals in the literature, and reveals the artistic images’ changes of human nature. In this part of the works, Zhang Xianliang’s protagonist was full of introspection and consciousness of confession as other writers when he described the suffering in history. But Zhang Xianliang tried to get the history’s forgiveness and redemption through the self awakening of the works’ protagonist. Therefore, Self analysis was full of contradictions and added a complex and contradictory images of intellectuals in the literary world.The second chapter puts forward Zhang Xianliang’s active exploration of politics, economy and culture in the reform literature. Although it was the active participation of intellectuals in the national prosperity, but also the reform was the hero fantasy. Along with the social focused toward the construction of socialist modernization, the literature also entered into multiple stage search. Zhang Xianliang had a strong spirit of entering the world in the literature of this period he expressed the intellectual desire to break through and reform. That was highlighting the sense of the contemporary intellectuals of China strong political feelings and responsibility for the nation, and that was full of intellectual hero dream color. But also the works which has the heavy work of social reform ideas, lacked the emotional expression of social problems and the soul, to a certain extent, the artistic nature of the works had been weakened.The third chapter discusses Zhang Xianliang’s concern about the market culture and its own religious transcendence.Along with the economy the overwhelming tide welled up, on the one hand the intellectual enthusiasm for political participation was eliminated. On the other hand, the intellectuals faced the loss of the corresponding social ethics and moral showed deep inquietude and concern. This paper expects to explore the real garden of Eden behind the real living circumstances. At the same time, the marginalization of literature leaded to the lost sense of being neglected and the memory of the suffering in reality, which made it to seek comfort and transcendence in religious doctrine.
