The Research Of Escapist Literature In The Middle And Later Periods Of The Eastern Han Dynasty

Escapist Literature in the middle and later periods of the Eastern Han Dynasty (25-220) has formed scale. Compared with the previous dynasty, Escapist Literature has greater development in styleand content in creation. There are about 53 escapist literature works including poetry, descriptive composition, inscription, letter, funeral oration, eulogium, etc in types and including seclusion, seclusion recruitment and seclusion praise, etc. The research for Escapist Literature in the middle and later periods of the Eastern Han Dynastycould provide important reference materials for further study of Escapist Literature in academic circle on the one hand and understand change of common practice of society, common practice of the scholar and style of writing in this period on the other hand to discover change of social ideological trend throughout Eastern Han Dynasty.This article is aimed to reveal the creation background, main content, literature value and influence status of Escapist Literature during this period by settling and carefully reading Escapist Literature works in the middle and later periods of the Eastern Han Dynasty to analyze Escapist Literature in this period from different layers. The main content is primarily divided into four aspects:Part Ⅰ summarized the creation background of Escapist Literature works in the middle and later periods of the Eastern Han Dynasty. It was was briefly introduced the Escapist Literature before the former period of Eastern Han Dynasty and summarized social and political background of literature creation, ideology and culture background and the background of scholar’s psychological change to display creation basis of Escapist Literature in full directions.Part Ⅱ had Escapist Literature works in the middle and later periods of the Eastern Han Dynasty classified in style to describe its content. Those works were classified into poetry, descriptive composition, inscription, letter, funeral oration, eulogium and other types on the basis of collection to summarize main expression content of Escapist Literature in this period and describe the creation change of Escapist Literature from the middle term to the later term of the Eastern Han Dynasty.Part Ⅲ focused on description of creation feature of Escapist Literature in the middle and later periods of the Eastern Han Dynasty to analyze abundant creational emotion, diversified creation skills and individual language style for Escapist Literature in this period, analyze the new characteristics of Escapist Literature in the middle and later periods of the Eastern Han Dynasty and discover its reason.Part VI described influence and status of Escapist Literature in the middle and later periods of the Eastern Han Dynasty. In the middle and later periods of the Eastern Han Dynasty, Escapist Literature presented its unique literature value along with transition of social thoughts based on inheriting Escapist Literature in the pre-Qin period, the Western Han Dynasty (206B.C.-A.D.24) and the former period of the Eastern Han Dynasty. The Escapist Literature in the middle and later periods of the Eastern Han Dynasty had been expanded no matter in theme and literary form or artistic style, having profound influence on later literature development.Escapist Literature in the middle and later periods of the Eastern Han Dynasty is an indispensable part of the history of Escapist Literature which not only enriches literature creation in the Eastern Han Dynasty and also has un-ignorable influence on generation of Escapist Literature in later ages, deserving our concern and thinking.
