This study chooses Wang Zhideng (1535-1612), a literati in the middle and late Ming Dynasty, as an analyzing object, concerns the relationship between his art and artistic prestige, tries to demonstrate that in the specific social context, artistic prestige not only reflects the aesthetic value of a work of art, the collection of artists’cultural and artistic practices of making friends also to a certain extent builds a reputation in the artworld.This paper relies on a large number of documents, with his linear art history as the main structure, from the contact group, as well as the relevant geo-spatial changes study of two clues to start research. Wang Zhideng’s family, friends and relatives of the initial population is described in this paper, youth intertwining ordinary literaties, famous elites, literaties and officialdoms, middle-aged later expanded to the industry and trade, business, etc various social strata of a wide range of artistic and cultural activities of making friends. This thesis demonstrates that once the artist has established a sound cultural and social network, it will have an important function to promote the construction of his artistic reputation. Meanwhile, the paper also notes that contain a variety of changes in the spatial node for that resource (for example, common area and the capital city) impact on art circle activities. Namely, to focus on the activities of the individual how to draw, accumulate, exchange of these space in the economic, political and cultural resources.The researcher uses social art theory to clarify the literature, and attempts to prove that:in the field of art, art practice can contribute to symbiosis of political, economic, cultural and social capital, between them the mutual exchange and accumulation plays an important role in the construction of individual art cultural ultimate artistic reputation formation. The main significance of this case study is in the perspective of Sociology of art, to explore the relationship between artistic prestige and artistic social activities in the field of art. The case study shows that prestige may not be in line with the intrinsic artistic value of a work of art, it is more likely a mixture of art accumulated through the activities of friends of individual social, political and economic capital in the field of art projects, exchange of the structure. Therefore, when we examine the artist’s artistic status, in addition to the value based on the artwork itself, but also need to combine the specific social situations and activities of artists, we should make more detailed analysis.
