Since the beginning of the 17 th century, the dulcimer has had 400 years history in China. Combing with Chinese traditional art culture and folk music characters, dulcimer has been a traditional instrument with national characteristics. While our dulcimer concept survey still focuses on its history and development, performance skills, formation and art style. There is few materials on survey of teaching concept and practicing, especially dulcimer social education concept and practicing.There are two main ways to do dulcimer education, professional education and social education. The latter is the main method to popularize dulcimer art and the base for promoting the professional education. Only the both complement each other, the dulcimer education can have good development. Beijing is the cultural center of our country and the education center of dulcimer, which has typical example for it. The writer chooses the Haidian and Chaoyang Children’s Palaces to do study because Haidian District is the relative advanced in culture and technology in Beijing and Chaoyang District is the place with great economy and weak culture. The situations of two places can show the general situation of social education of dulcimer of Beijing.The paper can be divided into three parts like introduction, main body and conclusion. The introduction mainly focuses on the cause, situation and methods of the survey. The paper has three chapters. The first chapter bases on the method of historical study and collects the information of dulcimer development and its education. The second chapter gives the questionnaire to the social learner and the public of Haidian and Chaoyang Children’s Palaces on dulcimer knowledge and learning, meanwhile interviews and questions the dulcimer teachers. According to these, the paper gets a relatively comprehensive and subjective analysis of social education situation of dulcimer. The third chapter provides some strategies for internal problems of social education of dulcimer, development environment of Chinese instrumental music and school music course, which is meaningful to modern dulcimer social education development.
