Underpinned by Gile’s Effort Models as the theoretical guidance, this report seeks to divide the simulated consecutive interpreting of Worldwide Developers Conference 2014 into two linguistic levels to expound the operating mechanism. Against the backdrop of four critical Efforts, underlying issues in the process of interpreting emerge, subsequently resolved by the relevant coping strategies. The report falls into four components. Chapter One describes the task from the perspective of background information, requirements and the corresponding features of the source discourse. Chapter Two illustrates the preparations for the interpreting. Chapter Three discusses the interpreting practice and its problems, guided by the Effort Models from the two linguistic levels, namely the lexical level, the syntactical level. The final part arrives at a conclusion where more valuable lessons can be drawn and references facilitating other interpreters can be available. |
