Abstract/Summary:
This report is based on the consecutive interpreting practice of Tevatronic Company Investment Conference.On May 28,2019,the author was appointed as the consecutive interpreter for Tevatronic Autonomous Irrigation Company selected both by the school and the organizer.The report consists of four chapters.Chapter 1 deals with the task assignment and requirements.Chapter 2 sets out the interpreting process in three stages.It firstly describes the preparatory work conducted during the per-interpretation stage and details the on-site interpretation where the author coordinates the ability of comprehension,note-taking,and reformulation by virtue of relevant coping tactics and visualization memory method.This chapter also points out that this interpreting practice has received good feedback and the interpreter’s working attitude and ability have earned her praise and appreciation.Chapter 3 elaborates on the choice of interpreting coping tactics and case analysis.The author firstly introduces Daniel Gile’s Effort Models of consecutive interpreting and then explains the reason and the effects of the adopted coping tactics:addition and repetition,reformulation and anticipation.In the case analysis,the author expounds on the on-site performance including delayed response,self-correction,and misinterpretation.Chapter 4 concludes the thesis with an emphasis on the significance of advance preparation,appropriate interpreting tactics and vivid visualization memory method in terms of short-term memory,information recovery and reproduction,which hold the key to the satisfactory interpretation of this conference interpreting.
