To realize the ambition what Japan was eager to swallow up China, Japanese imperialism deliberately created the Lugou Bridge Incident which was also known as “The July 7th Incident” on July 7th, 1937. This event gave tottering China the more serious crisis. From this time on, China had fell into a quagmire for eight years.China was strongly chocked by this event. At this time, countless Chinese with conscience woke up and stood up. They strove with their firm determination to save the nation by their own ways. Destinies of countless people were influenced by the war so that people were on the way of exiling with the noise of the fight. The war not only changed writer’s life paths and situation, but also converted the road of creation. Under this circumstance, some writers chose to hold fast to the road of literature creation. Theyregarded pens as spears to charge into the battlefield without guns and fire. Some writers chose to join the army with literature weapons. They faced the cruelness of the war and became a legend.Forced by the time, war became the theme of literature creations. For a while, there were many literature works about the war sprung up like mushrooms. Literature works under the Lugou Bridge Incident embodied four major aspects. First, works exposed the truth of the Lugou Bridge Incident. Second, those showed living conditions and mental conditions during the period of anti-Japanese. Third is to sing the praises of soldiers who fight the invading army bravely. The last is to call soldiers and civilians to fight with Japanese invaders. On the one hand, to a great extent, these works inspired passion of solders and civilians about anti-Japanese what contributed a strong spiritual power to anti-Japanese victory. On the other hand, it precluded development of writers and their works in a way. Writers are forced to change the original creation intention and abandon the pursuits of art and literature. They are apart from familiar contents and forms and styles they were good at. Writers turned to create works which cratered to the public aesthetic and interests.Modern literature which was influenced by the May 4th Literature Revolution Movement developed successfully with relatively free social circumstance, showing a good situation of "Let flowers bloom together, let a hundred schools of thought contend”.However, modern Chinese literature changed after the Lugou Bridge Incident. Modern Chinese literature was in a transition from the personal life field to the national feelings, from the iconoclasm to the traditionalism and from the individualism to the nationalism. The good and free development trend of modern Chinese literature was forced to be interrupted because of the Lugou Bridge Incident. Then, it was forced to embark on a rough road.
