Gu Weijun,an outstanding diplomat in modern Chinese history,experienced major events in the course of modern Chinese history and witnessed the development of Chinese diplomacy.After the September 18 th Incident,Gu Weijun proposed to negotiate directly with Japan,supported the neutrality of Jinzhou,and participated in the investigation of Japan's aggression against China by the Li Dun's investigation team.After the July 7 incident,Gu Weijun once again demanded sanctions against Japan in the League of Nations and attended the meeting of the Nine Power Treaty.He actively defended China at the Brussels Conference and united with the United States to rule Japan.Gu Weijun launched a series of diplomatic activities with Japan after the September 18 th Incident and achieved important results,making important contributions to safeguarding the interests of the Chinese nation.This paper focuses on Gu Weijun's diplomatic activities with Japan after the September 18 th Incident,summarizes Gu Weijun's diplomatic achievements with Japan,and objectively evaluates the evolution of China-Japanese relations after the September 18 th Incident.Therefore,this paper will select and analyze some typical cases of Japanese diplomacy made by Gu Weijun from 1931 to 1937.This paper is divided into three chapters:The first chapter introduces Gu Weijun's diplomatic activities with Japan before the September 18 th incident.First,Gu Weijun's life that affects his attitude towards Japan is briefly introduced.Diplomatic activities with Japan had already carried out by Gu Weijun before the September 18 th Incident.In 1915,Gu Weijun solve the Twenty-one Treaty proposed by Japan with the International law.In 1919,Gu Weijun made his debut at the Paris Peace Conference.Gu weijun has a deep understanding of the unequal treaties and hopes to realize China's independence by revising the treaties with Japan.Gu Weijun's diplomatic activities with Japan before the September 18 incident laid a foundation for his diplomatic activities between 1931 and 1937.The second chapter mainly elaborates Gu Weijun's diplomatic activities with Japan after the September 18 th Incident.It first elaborates the relation between China and Japan after the September 18 th Incident.It is in this circumstance that Gu Weijun started his diplomacy with Japan.Secondly,the analysis of Gu Weijun's diplomatic activities with Japan takes time as a clue.The inspection was divided into two periods,namely,Gu Weijun's diplomacy with Japan after the September 18 th Incident in 1931 and the July 7th Incident in 1937.Gu Weijun supported the Jinzhou Neutrality Plan after the September 18 th Incident and proposed direct negotiations with Japan.As a consultant to the Lidun investigation team,he strived for foreign cooperation while the Tangku Truce Agreement period.After the July 7th Incident,Gu Weijun provided justice for China in the League of Nations and defended for China at the Brussels meeting.The third chapter evaluates Gu Weijun's diplomatic activities with Japan and analyzes the diplomatic achievements of it before and after the September 18 th Incident.It is necessary to affirm the achivements as well as to clarify the limitations of Gu Weijun's diplomacy with Japan,so as to summarize experience and draw lessons from history.
