Constructivism Research Of "Belief"

My dissertation tries to discuss the relationship among construction of belief and nation-state in modern China. In the early Republic of China, the social transformation provoked the crisis of belief in modern China. It also accelerates the process of reconstruction in belief further, making a great and important effect on the belief world of Chinese. Under the crisis in belief in the early Republic of China, there were different solutions to reconstruct it. In this special historical period, the concept and form of belief in modern China eventually developed by completing and integrating.My dissertation ought to use some related method and theory about historical sociology. Through sorting out and focusing the course of belief construction, this paper tries to analysis the modern expression of belief in China, also the relationship between belief and state. Belief could be classified as two aspects, state-belief and individual belief. The state-belief is the way and system of belief, which affording legitimate source to nation-state, and divine dimension to the whole regime. Therefore, as a basic concept, belief is the focus of this dissertation. On the basis of constructivism, I tried to analysis the relationship between belief and state, highlighting the process of construction in belief. Objecting the state-belief in early Republic of China, the relationship between belief, state and religion, the legitimate relation and modern expression about belief are also the focus point.Belief dimension showed in the movement of Confucianism, ideological trend of vicarious religion and Three Principles of the People is an important point, which refers to the modern expression and practice analysis in concept of belief. Highlighting the construction period of the forming belief, analyzing the legitimate phenomenon of belief in political and economic legitimation are the original purposes of this dissertation.
